Bringing Screening EKGs to Life Quest Medical Wellness is more than adding another service. For me, it is deeply personal.

My family has a history of heart disease. In October 2025, my dad died unexpectedly from a heart rhythm abnormality. That loss changed our family and made the importance of understanding heart rhythm feel very real to me—not only as a Nurse Practitioner, but also as a daughter, mother, wife.

My interest in heart rhythm is also grounded in my clinical background. I spent over 10 years as an ICU nurse and three years as a Nurse Practitioner in cardiac electrophysiology, where evaluating heart rhythms was part of my daily work. I have also taught EKG interpretation. At Life Quest, I personally review and interpret every Screening EKG before a written result is released.

Even before losing my dad, I had asked my own healthcare providers about obtaining an EKG because of my family history and my desire to be proactive. However, without symptoms or another qualifying medical indication, insurance coverage was a barrier. Like many people, I found that wanting baseline information did not necessarily mean I could easily access it through the traditional healthcare system.

I understand why diagnostic testing must be based on symptoms, medical necessity and insurance requirements. I also believe people should have an affordable option when they are feeling well but want to learn more about their health.

That is one reason we are now offering 12-lead Screening EKGs through Life Quest Medical Wellness.

What Is a Screening EKG?

A resting 12-lead EKG records the heart’s electrical activity at a specific moment in time. It provides information about:

· Heart rate

· Heart rhythm

· Electrical conduction

· Certain patterns that may warrant additional medical evaluation

A Screening EKG may be worth considering if you:

· Have never had an EKG

· Are starting or increasing an exercise program

· Regularly participate in strenuous activity or athletics

· Want a baseline available for future comparison

· Want to be more proactive about your cardiovascular wellness

Your Life Quest screening includes a short questionnaire, a resting 12-lead EKG, my review and interpretation as the program’s Nurse Practitioner, and a written result. Results are typically provided within 24–48 hours.

What a Screening EKG Cannot Do

A Screening EKG is one piece of information—not a guarantee that your heart is healthy and not a prediction of what may happen in the future.

Because it records only a brief period of electrical activity, it may not detect an abnormal rhythm that occurs intermittently. It also cannot rule out every form of heart disease or replace a complete cardiovascular evaluation when one is medically indicated.

An EKG also cannot change what happened to my dad. I know that. This service is not about promising that one test can prevent every tragedy.

It is about giving people another accessible way to obtain information about their health.

Creating a More Accessible Option

I wanted this service to be straightforward and affordable, without requiring an insurance claim or waiting for symptoms to develop before asking questions.

Our limited-time introductory price is $75, and Life Quest members receive a 15% discount.

For some people, the result will provide reassuring baseline information. For others, it may identify a finding that should be discussed with their primary care provider or evaluated further. Either way, the goal is to provide useful information, thoughtful clinical review and clear recommendations about appropriate next steps.

Know Your Rhythm. Know Your Baseline.

I believe proactive healthcare should include reasonable access to information—not fear, promises or unnecessary testing.

Offering Screening EKGs at Life Quest is one way I can use my clinical experience and my personal loss to create something meaningful for our community. It gives people who want to know more about their heart rhythm an affordable and accessible place to begin.

Life Quest Screening EKGs are intended for individuals who are not currently experiencing cardiac symptoms. If you are experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, new or significant palpitations, or other potentially urgent symptoms, do not schedule a screening EKG. Seek prompt medical evaluation or emergency care. Screening EKGs do not replace diagnostic cardiac evaluation.
