Dr. Mike Powell grew up in Iowa, where a passion for athletics shaped everything that followed. A four-sport athlete throughout his youth, he went on to play NCAA Division III football at Buena Vista University — an experience that gave him a firsthand understanding of what it takes to perform, compete, and recover.
After completing his undergraduate education, Dr. Powell earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1996, graduating with honors. He brought his training to Alexandria, Minnesota in 1997, where he opened his practice and has been serving the community ever since.
With nearly three decades of clinical experience, Dr. Powell specializes in chiropractic care, sports injury rehabilitation, and performance-based care. His approach goes beyond treating symptoms — he's focused on identifying the root cause of pain and movement dysfunction, and building a plan that gets patients back to doing what they love at the highest level possible.
He is a skilled practitioner in manual chiropractic methods including Gonstead, Thompson, and Diversified techniques, and integrates a wide range of therapeutic tools — from soft tissue work and shockwave therapy to corrective exercise — to deliver comprehensive, individualized care.
Dr. Powell has served as the official team doctor for Alexandria's NAHL and NA3HL hockey programs for more than 16 years — a role that reflects his deep commitment to athlete health in the community he calls home. Whether it's a junior hockey player or a weekend golfer, he brings the same standard of care and attention to every patient who walks through the door.
Dr. Powell practices what he preaches. An avid weight trainer, cyclist and golfer, he lives the active lifestyle he promotes with his patients every day. When he's not in the clinic, you'll find him on the pontoon with his wife Kelly, on the pickleball court or golf course or out enjoying everything that lake country Minnesota has to offer — often with their two Goldendoodles, Sully and Saylor, in tow.
Dr. Powell and Kelly have a blended family of adult children who keep life full, fun, and anything but quiet.
